Disturbi alimentari
L’interesse per i disturbi alimentari risale alle riflessioni cliniche di Lorenzini e Sassaroli degli anni ’80 e ’90 e precede la fondazione di Studi Cognitivi. Analogamente a quanto faceva Beck, Lorenzini e Sassaroli ritennero che fosse importante delineare dei modelli dei disturbi emotivi specifici per diagnosi cliniche.
Il modello prevedeva che i disturbi alimentari dipendessero da idee disfunzionali focalizzate sul controllo del peso e dell’alimentazione e, a un secondo livello, della stima di sé attraverso la prestazione perfezionistica. Il controllo del comportamento alimentare generava dei circoli viziosi che si auto-alimentavano. Negli anni successivi, il modello fu ulteriormente approfondito aggiungendo degli aspetti processuali, a cominciare dal rimuginio sia specifico sull’alimentazione che generale ancora una volta sulla stima di sé e il controllo perfezionistico delle situazioni problematiche.
Gli studi empirici del gruppo di ricerca di Studi Cognitivi sul rimuginio nei disturbi alimentari sono tra i primi esempi di ricerca processuale in questo ambito clinico. Questi studi hanno inoltre portato all’elaborazione di procedure di trattamento processuale specifico per i disturbi alimentari (Sassaroli & Ruggiero, 2010).
I Centri di Ricerca di Studi Cognitivi hanno esplorato negli anni le basi cognitive dei disturbi alimentari, le motivazioni che li sostengono, i loro effetti e le principali tecniche che possono essere applicate con efficacia per la loro riduzione.
